SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Coastal Plain League (CPL) announced its selections for the 2017 CPL All-Star Game, with Georgia College rising senior Logan Mattix (Loganville) earning an All-Star nod.
Mattix is a key piece of the Savannah Bananas, starting 21 games and hitting .320 with a pair of home runs, 13 RBIs and a team-best 21 runs scored. The Division II Gold Glover is perfect in 49 chances in centerfield as well.
Mattix will make his second-straight appearance on a summer league all-star team, after getting chosen to the 2016 Northwoods League All-Star Game while playing for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.
Fifty-four players were selected for the All-Star game, with 27 from the CPL East and 27 from the CPL West. All 16 head coaches and two media representatives for each team participated in voting.
The Holly Springs Salamanders are hosting the CPL 2017 All-Star Fan Fest and All-Star Game at the North Main Athletic Complex July 9-10. The event will also feature a mascot kickball game, a home run derby, and opportunities for fans to meet the players. The All Star game will begin at 7 p.m. on July 10. This year, fans can also watch the game at home. It will be broadcast live in over 25 million homes as well as be streamed on MLB.com via the CPL's partnership with 7 Communications.
