TUCSON, Ariz. – Collegiate Baseball Newspaper released its first NCAA Division II Preseason Poll, with Georgia College coming in at No. 22.

The Bobcats are second among four Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools listed, just one behind No. 21 UNC Pembroke. Georgia College is ahead of both No. 23 University of North Georgia and No. 34 USC Aiken. The top slot is owned by Delta State University from the Gulf South Conference.

GC Baseball went 35-15 in 2017, winning the PBC Tournament and taking a trip to the NCAA Southeast Regional. The Bobcats were an offensive juggernaut, hitting .358, leading the country in that category as well as doubles per game (2.52). Back is All-American third baseman Cal Gentry (Perry) as well as All-Region outfielder Logan Mattix (Loganville) and All-PBC honorees Wesley Wommack (Monroe) and Brandon Purcell (Glennville).

The season begins Friday, Feb. 2 at 5 p.m., when the Bobcats take on Paine College at John Kurtz Field.
