Bobcat Baseball Players in the Professional Ranks

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Get an update on former Georgia College student-athletes working their way through the ranks of professional baseball.

Josh Taylor (2014)
Pitcher for the Portland Sea Dogs, the Boston Red Sox Class Double-A affiliate in the Eastern League … Started season with Class-A Advanced Visalia Rawhide, traded to the Red Sox organization after going 1-2 with a 2.81 ERA over 14 relief appearances … Added 20 strikeouts over 16 innings for the Rawhide … Has pitched in nine games for Portland, going 1-2 with a 5.56 ERA and 14 whiffs in 11 1/3 innings … Victory came May 31 against in two shutout innings.  

Logan Mattix (2018)
Outfielder for the Quad Cities River Bandits, Class A affiliate of the Houston Astros in the Midwest League … Has seen two starts since joining the team, going 2-for-6 (.333) with a double, a run and an RBI.

Brandon Benson (2017)
Outfielder for the Gulf Coast Cardinals, Rookie League affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals in the Gulf Coast League … First game was Tuesday, he pinch hit in the designated hitter slot, singling in two at bats and scoring a run.

Brandon Purcell (2018)
Catcher for the Gulf Coast Cardinals, Rookie League affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals in the Gulf Coast League … First game was Tuesday, he played two innings as a defensive replacement.

Brandt Stallings (2018)
Listed as a first baseman for the Billings Mustangs, Rookie League affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds in the Pioneer League.

Michael Antonini (2007)
Pitcher for the Somerset Patriots in the independent Atlantic League … Has made 16 relief appearances, owing a team-best 1.77 ERA and a 2-2 record with 23 strikeouts in 20 1/3 innings … Owns a 0.89 WHIP and a .231 opponent batting average … Somerset is 27-20, tops in the Liberty Division.

Daniel Bick (2014)
Shortstop for the Ottawa Champions in the independent CanAm League … Hitting .269 with seven RBIs and nine runs scored … Has seven extra-base hits among his 21 over the 22 games … Went 2-for-4 with a double against Sussex County June 17.
