STATESBORO, Ga. – Former Georgia College shooting guard Ellie Fruit (2015-17) has joined Division I Georgia Southern University as a graduate assistant coach for its women's basketball team.

"This is a great opportunity for Ellie and we couldn't be more excited for her," said GC Women's Basketball head coach Maurice Smith. "Ellie represented our program with great character and integrity and she will definitely provide that same representation at Georgia Southern. Her presence will be impactful on both the campus and in the athletic department. We are extremely proud of her and looking forward to the many more great accomplishments she will have in the future."

Fruit spent two years on the roster for the Bobcats, seeing action in 39 games while battling injuries.  A 2016-17 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) All-Academic Team selection, Fruit scored 124 career points and knocked down 33 three-pointers en route to a degree in Community Health.

Fruit joins former Bobcat Women's Basketball Assistant Coach Toby Wagoner, who is now in year number three for the Eagles. Fruit will pursue a master's in healthcare administration.
