Women’s Tennis Loses to Lakers, 9-0


MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The women's tennis team at Georgia College & State University (3-4, 3-3 PBC) lost 9-0 today (March 4) against Peach Belt Conference (PBC) rival, Clayton State University (4-3, 3-2 PBC).

The closest match of the day came in second doubles when the French Bobcat duo of Diane Danna and Bertille Lion fell to the Laker twosome of Marie Cercelletti and Selma Hidass 9-8.

In other doubles action the team of Gabby Acuna (Peachtree City, Ga.) and Majorie Ceppo (Sao Paulo Brazil) lost 8-2 to Katie White and Viktoriya Semyrodenko. Also, the Bobcats' Adriana Acuna (Peachtree City, Ga.) and Angy Cuellar (Bogota, Colombia) were taken down by Evelin Czizi and Veronika Jasenovcova by the score of 8-4.

In first singles action, Ceppo fell to Semyrodenko 6-0, 6-3. The second and third singles matches saw the same score. The Bobcats' Danna and Lion both lost 6-4, 6-2 to the Lakers' White and Cercelletti, respectively.

Gabby Acuna was beat by Jasenovcova 6-2, 6-1 at the fourth singles slot. Adriana Acuna was shutout 6-0, 6-0 by Czizi. Georgia College's Cuellar lost 6-1, 6-1 to Clayton State's Hidass.

The Georgia College men's and women's teams are on the road tomorrow, March 6 to face PBC member, Augusta State University with matches starting 2:30 p.m.
