MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Led once again by sophomore Sydney Brown (Canton) the Georgia College Women's Cross Country team took fourth in the largest home race in school history Saturday, the 19-team Bobcat Invitational.
Brown crossed the line in the 6K in 23:33, good for 17th overall, a personal best. Second on the squad and 23rd in the 142-runner field was Maddy Howe (Dacula) at 23:49 also a personal record.
Junior Rachel Boulineau (Canton) also posted a personal-best and was a slot behind Howe in 23:55, while sophomore Tessa Allen (Atlanta) finished 30th in 24:11, shaving one second off her personal record. Rounding out the scorers for the Bobcats was junior Madison Bowers (Cumming) at 25:08 in 54th place.
The Bobcats finished with 132 points, 33 behind third-place University of Montevallo. Division I Florida State University took the team title, with the University of Alabama-Huntsville second. Montevallo's Justine Glass won the race in 21:54, good for third in the course records.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Nov. 3 at the PBC Championships in Augusta.
