After five seasons as an assistant in the Georgia College Athletic Training office, including three as the second in command, Sarah Fuller has been appointed Interim Head Athletic Trainer, GC Director of Athletics Wendell Staton announced Monday.
Fuller has served as the Assistant Athletic Trainer for three seasons at Georgia College, working primarily with the Bobcat Soccer and GC Women’s Basketball programs, but serving student-athletes from all 11 varsity sports. Prior to that role, she worked two seasons as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer.
“We are so pleased that Sarah Fuller has agreed to serve as our Interim Head Athletic Trainer,” said Staton. “Sarah earned her Master’s Degree at Georgia College program and has been such a great addition to our staff from the day she arrived on campus. She is the ultimate team player and has wonderful working relationships with our student-athletes, faculty and staff, and the medical community. The delivery of health care continues to change at great speed and we are pleased that Sarah will lead our efforts in providing the best experience possible for our student-athletes.”
Fuller takes over after the departure of Paul Higgs to a new faculty position at his Alma Mater Valdosta State University. Higgs ran the GC Athletic Training office for the past 20 years. Fuller owns a Master’s in Human Performance from Georgia College in 2016, and an undergrad degree in Athletic Training from Lander University, where she played on the Bearcat Softball squad.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to lead the Georgia College Athletic Training Department as Interim Head Athletic Trainer,” said Fuller. “I have been fortunate to learn much during my time here and look forward to continued growth as I embrace this new role. I appreciate the support I have received from Georgia College Athletics and am excited for the future of this department.”
A Certified Athletic Trainer, Fuller has been an active member of both the Southeast and Georgia Athletic Trainers Associations since 2014. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist as well.
