VALDOSTA, Ga. – A mid-game push would provide the difference Wednesday, as the Georgia College Baseball team (3-4) fell 6-4 at Valdosta State University (7-3) in non-conference action.
The Bobcats entered the bottom of the fifth with a 3-1 lead, but VSU scored five runs over the next three frames to take over the game.
Centerfielder Logan Mattix (Loganville) did a great job setting the table, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored, a double and a stolen base. Leftfielder Wesley Wommack (Monroe) and third baseman Garrett Green (Bogart) each went 2-for-5, the latter of the two adding a run scored.
The Bobcat pitching staff broke up the game, with Brooks Luther (Dallas), Brady Walsh (Marietta) and Jonathan McKinney (Marietta) providing scoreless relief efforts. Colin LoCurto (Kennesaw) took the loss, falling to 0-1.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Feb. 19 at 5 p.m., hosting Flagler College to start Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play.
