Bobcat Baseball Takes Game Two Against Augusta University, 10-5

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Georgia College Baseball (30-16, 18-11 PBC) their second victory of the three-game series against the Augusta University Jaguars (29-18, 17-11 PBC) Saturday.

The first inning passed by without a run on the board before the Bobcats soared ahead. Designated hitter Wesley Wommack (Monroe) sent in the first run for the Bobcats with a single in the second. The following inning, Brandon Purcell (Glennville) plated two runs with a single before Tanner Giesel (Naperville, Illinois) repeated the performance, picking up two RBIs on a single.

After another scoreless inning, Matthew Miller (Escondido, California) rounded the bases on a solo home run sent past center field. Georgia College added one run in each of the next two innings while Augusta earned two in the seventh. Georgia College added its final two runs in when Dylan Cook (Portola Valley, California) cracked the ball over the left field wall. The Jaguars took two more runs before a final scoreless inning and the Bobcats added another win, 10-5.

Cook and Giesel shared the glory of leading the team in scoring with each picking up three RBIs. Purcell followed with two while Wommack and Miller had one apiece.

Starting pitcher Charlie Hecht (Johns Creek) brought his record up to 7-2 after being tagged with today's win. The sophomore tallied five strike outs during his seven innings of play and only gave up three runs.

The Bobcats and the Jaguars conclude this weekend's series with a final game tomorrow, May 1, at 1 p.m.
