AUGUSTA, Ga. – The No. 29 Georgia College Baseball team (18-7) was firing on all cylinders Wednesday, hitting, pitching and fielding in a 15-1 win at Paine College (7-10).
The Bobcats had 18 hits for 15 runs, had six pitchers combine for three hits allowed and didn't have a single error in the seven-inning, run-shortened game.
Junior Brandt Stallings (Buford) was an offensive star, going 3-for-4 with six RBIs and a run, including a three-run home run in the sixth. Senior John Davis (Marietta) had two hits and three RBIs, while junior Tarez Miller (McDonough) and senior Caleb Slaughter (Cochran) had identical box scores of 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI. Miller posted a triple and Slaughter slammed two doubles. Freshman Austin Holloway (Social Circle) rounded out the multi-hit performers, going 2-for-3 with a run.
The Georgia College pitching staff was led by junior Connor Wilson (Newnan), getting the start and tossing two shutout frames with a strikeout for his first win (1-0) as a Bobcat. Junior Chandler Amason (Grayson), freshman Trevor Evans (Milledgeville), sophomore Kyle King (Johns Creek), junior Logan Howard (Cumming) and sophomore Harrison Veldsma (Marietta) each threw an inning, Howard and Veldsma both striking out the side in order for the sixth and seventh, respectively.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, March 23 at 6 p.m., playing host to No. 25 UNC Pembroke.
