MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 13 Georgia College Baseball team (25-7, 17-2 PBC) extended its win streak to nine with a 7-2 win over Lander University (12-22, 6-13 PBC) Friday night at John Kurtz Field.
Senior Charlie Hecht (Johns Creek) dazzled again, fanning six of the first seven hitters en route to another victory (8-0). The Johns Creek Monster threw seven innings, striking out 11 hitters and allowing a pair of solo home runs among four hits. He turned it over to junior Bradly Cammack (Soperton) for the final six outs and his fourth save.
The Bobcats had three runs each in the second and third to get the scoring they needed. The first score came on a wild pitch, then sophomore Cal Gentry (Perry) plated a pair with a single. In the third, two runs came in via wild pitches and the third a groundout.
Gentry finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Senior Nate Schmal (Cumming) scored twice with a 2-for-3 game of his own, including a triple.
The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, April 7 at 2 p.m. against the Bearcats.
