MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 8 Georgia College Baseball program (38-10) clinched their series against the Winston-Salem State University Rams (30-19) with a win on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at John Kurtz Field, 12-5.

The Rams struck first with a run in the top half of the opening frame, but the Bobcats came back with three runs of their own in the bottom half to take a 3-1 lead.  Georgia College shut down the Rams in the top of the second and managed to push across two more in the bottom of the inning to jump out to an early 5-1 advantage.

The early lead didn't hold long for the Bobcats as WSSU scored four unanswered runs through the sixth inning to tie the game at 5-5.  The Bobcat bats came back to life in the bottom of the sixth by posting a five-spot to break the game open.  Two of the runs were driven in by a single from Matthew Miller (San Diego, California) and a double off the bat of Logan Mattix (Loganville).

Georgia College added two more insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to secure their victory and series over the Rams.

Southpaw Logan Howard (Cumming) earned the win for Georgia College hurling 3 1/3 innings of shut-out baseball allowing three hits and striking out three.

Miller and Mattix both finished their afternoon with big numbers at the plate.  Miller went 3-for-3 with a walk, four runs scored and a RBI.  Mattix also had three hits and a RBI while crossing home plate twice.

Prior to the contest, the Bobcats honored their 11 seniors, playing in their last home weekend of the regular season. Along with Miller and Mattix, the Bobcats honored John Davis (Marietta), Wesley Wommack (Monroe), Caleb Slaughter (Cochran), Charlie Hecht (Johns Creek), Brendan Holler (Gilroy, California), Nate Schmal (Cumming), Trevor Guthrie (Cumming), Brandon Purcell (Glennville) and Mike Warren (Atlanta).
