MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 1 Georgia College Baseball team (44-12) had one of the best seasons in program history, and the honors continue to come in for the Bobcats. The Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) recently announced its All-Southeast Region Team, with the Bobcats earning both Pitcher and Player of the Year as well as five spots on the team.

Senior righty Charlie Hecht (Johns Creek) brings in his second Region Pitcher of the Year honor. He finished his final season in blue and green at 11-1 with a 3.03 ERA and 125 strikeouts in 104 innings. Hecht is just the second Bobcat to earn Region Pitcher of the Year through the organization, joining Martin Dewald in 2010.

Classmate Logan Mattix (Loganville) was voted Region Player of the Year. Mattix terrorized opponent pitching for a .400 average, nine home runs, 67 RBIs and 62 runs scored. Mattix is also the second D2CCA Region Player of the Year to don a Bobcat uniform, joining Brandon Benson just a season ago.

Accompanying Hecht and Mattix on the All-Southeast Region First Team was senior utility Nate Schmal (Cumming). The second baseman/outfielder/catcher was hard to keep off the basepaths, finishing with a .417 average, 34 RBIs and 40 runs scored. Schmal is the first Bobcat utility player to earn an All-Region slot through this organization.

Georgia College put two on the All-Region Second Team, senior Matthew Miller (San Diego, California) and junior Wesley Wommack (Monroe).

Miller hit .405 this season with six home runs, 40 RBIs and 65 runs, finishing the year on a 32-game hit streak. A two-time D2CCA All-Southeast Region honoree after taking a slot in the outfield in 2016, Miller is the second first baseman to win the honor, joining Clay Ardeeser who took a second-team slot in both 2014 and 2015.

Wommack hit .390 with four home runs, 52 RBIs and 56 runs. With Wommack and Mattix this season, the Bobcats have put seven outfielders on this list all-time.

Since the program's inception in 2007, Georgia College has now had 27 student-athletes named to the D2CCA All-Region list, including seven in the two seasons led by head coach Jason Eller.

The season has come to a close for the Bobcats, a year in which they went 44-12 with the most Peach Belt Conference (PBC) victories by any team since 1998, and the first back-to-back PBC Tournament titles since 1998 as well. The Bobcats put eight on the All-PBC Teams and five on the All-Region squads.
