MARSHALL, Minn. – The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) recently announced its 2018 Baseball All-America teams, with three members of the No. 1 Georgia College Baseball program earning the nation's top honors.

Senior pitcher Charlie Hecht (Johns Creek, Georgia) and senior utility Nate Schmal (Cumming, Georgia) were named to the second team, while senior outfielder Logan Mattix (Loganville, Georgia) took a third-team spot.

The first consensus Region Pitcher of the Year in program history, Hecht makes his second All-America team this season. He finished his final season in blue and green at 11-1 with a 3.03 ERA and 125 strikeouts in 104 innings. Hecht is just the second pitcher in school history to bring in D2CCA All-America honors, joining third-team choice Martin Dewald from 2010.

Schmal brings in the first All-America trophy in his career, due in large part to a lofty .417 batting average. The second baseman/outfielder/catcher was hard to keep off the basepaths, finishing with a .473 on-base percentage, 34 RBIs and 40 runs scored. Schmal is the first Bobcat utility player to earn an All-American nod through this organization.

Mattix brings in his second All-America honor this season. The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Player of the Year, he beat up on opponent pitching for a .400 average, nine home runs, 67 RBIs and 62 runs scored. Mattix is the third outfielder in school history to be chosen to the D2CCA All-America team. The most recent Bobcat outfielder was Sean Harrell in 2010.

The three additions make it 10 D2CCA All-Americans in school history, the program starting in 2007. Brandon Benson and Cal Gentry earned spots last season to bring the total to five honorees in head coach Jason Eller's two seasons.

The season has come to a close for the Bobcats, a year in which they went 44-12 with the most Peach Belt Conference (PBC) victories by any team since 1998, and the first back-to-back PBC Tournament titles since 1998 as well. The Bobcats put eight on the All-PBC Teams and six on the All-Region squads, now adding All-America honors for Mattix, Schmal and Hecht.
