MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Esports squad has learned its next opponents as the field has been announced for the League of Legends Championship Play-In.
Eight teams have been grouped into two pools of play, with the top two teams in each pool advancing to the College League of Legends National Finals in Los Angeles. The Bobcats earned an automatic spot as 2018 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Runners-Up.
Georgia College appears in Group A with Big Ten Champion University of Maryland, Simon Fraser University and the University of Ottowa. PBC Champion University of North Georgia is with Big Ten Runner-Up University of Illinois, George Mason University and Columbia College in Group B.
The Bobcats will play three matches against the other teams in their pool beginning on Saturday, April 14, and continuing for the next two weeks. The top two teams in each pool will join the four teams that won the playoffs in the regional conferences in LA for the national finals.
Georgia College will open against Big Ten Network champion Maryland.
The League of Legends College Championship will be held June 7-10 at the NA LCS Studios in Los Angeles.
