EATONTON, Ga.- Columbus State University fired a two-under second round to slide past host Georgia College & State University for the team lead after two rounds of the Bobcat Invitational today (March 23) at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee. CSU shot a 278 combined with a first-round 286 for an overall 564, pacing the field by eight strokes.

GCSU junior Pedro C. Lima (Sao Paulo, Brazil) owns the individual lead, following up a first round 72 with a 67 (139) for one-under on the par-70, 6,730-yard course.

He stands one stroke ahead of a five-way tie for second between CSU's Michael Hicks and Kyle Albright, Nova Southeastern University's Byron White, Florida Southern College's Jude Eustaquio and University of West Florida's Kyle Scott. White shot a second-round 66, low round for the day.

The host Bobcats stand at 572 (284-288), while Nova Southeastern is third at 579. Florida Southern stands fourth (581) with Valdosta State University rounding out the top five at a 582.

Lander University's Billy Belair provided some fireworks with a hole-in-one, coming on hole No. 8 in the first round.

For the host Bobcats, junior Francisco Bide (Buenos Aires, Argentina/El Diamante (Calif.)) is eighth with a pair of 71s (142). Sophomore Joe Young (Cochran, Ga.) is 21st at 72-73=145 and junior Niclas Johansson (Skanor, Sweden) is a stroke behind in 24th (69-77=146). Sophomore Billy Shida (Berkeley Lake, Ga.) rounds out the starters at 60th (76-77=153).

Three Bobcats competed as individuals, two in their first career tournament at Georgia College. Sophomore Matthew Yonz (Norcross, Ga.) leads all playing as individuals at 38th overall (75-75=150). Both Bayley Craig (Eatonton, Ga.) and Rich Crumpton (Eatonton, Ga.) were in their first tournaments at GCSU.

The tournament finishes tomorrow with one final round, the first tee times coming at 8:22 a.m.
