Bobcat Golfers Named to Ping All-America Team, Trio Makes All-Southeast Region Team

NORMAN, Okla. - The Division II Ping All-America Teams were announced recently with one Georgia College & State University golfer making Third Team and one Honorable Mention. Also, three Bobcats were named to the All-Southeast Region Team.

Sweden native Niclas Johansson was named to the All-America Third Team. An All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) selection, Johansson was No. 8 in par-5 scoring with a 4.68 average, which was second among PBC competitors. He also placed 17th in sub-par strokes per round at 3.43, third among conference golfers. Johansson ties a Georgia College record set by David Robinson with three All-America titles. Johansson finished with a 72.3 stroke average as well as seven top-10 finishes and three top-20s.

Pedro C. Lima (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was an Honorable Mention All-American. Lima was a solid fourth in the nation in par-3 scoring, averaging 3.10 per hole. Lima had four top-10 finishes to go along with three top-20 finishes, boasting a 73.2 average.

 Two-time All-PBC golfer Joe Young (Cochran, Ga.) joined Lima and Johansson on the All-Southeast Region Team. Young had three top-20 finishes and two top-10s with a 72.9 average.

The 2009 season was another stellar one for one of the most decorated programs in school history. The Bobcats took fifth at the NCAA Finals, marking five times in the last six years Georgia College has played for the Division II title under head coach Jimmy Wilson.
