Bobcat Golf Starts Season at Jennison Cup

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Georgia College Golf squad got its 2018-19 season underway Monday at the Jay Jennison Cup, hosted by Flagler College. The Bobcats carded a two-round 15-over par to stand 10th at the par-72, 6,939-yard Slammer and Squire course.

The Bobcats were consistent, posting a 295 in the first and 296 in the second. Junior Drew Duffie (Evans, Georgia) leads the team in 27th in the 84-golfer field at three-over. He came out of the gates with a two-under 70 in round one, but balanced that with a 77 in the second.

A pair of Bobcats come in at 35th, as junior Austin Mancilla (Lawrenceville, Georgia) meets freshman Isaac Samples (Loganville, Georgia) at four-over. Both men shaved four strokes off their respective first round 76s with a even-par efforts in the second.

Fourth on the team and 43rd overall is sophomore Daniel Davis (Columbus, Georgia) shooting rounds of 73 and 77 for six-over. Junior Alex Wells (Evans, Georgia) is eight-over in his first tournament as a Bobcat, owning rounds of 77 and 75.

The Bobcats are just a single stroke behind No. 20 Lander University, and eight out of the top-five. No. 3 Barry University is running away with the tournament at a massive 22-under par.

The third and final round gets underway tomorrow, Sept. 25. Wells leads the Bobcats to the course at 9:12 a.m., as the Bobcats play with golfers from Embry-Riddle University and Belmont Abbey College.
