Bobcat Tennis’ Connelly, Heller Take Doubles Title at ITA Summer Circuit

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) held a branch of its ITA Summer Circuit at Georgia Southern University this week, with the Georgia College Tennis duo of Nathan Connelly (McDonough) and Cole Heller (Woodstock) taking the men's doubles title.

The Bobcat pairing won one match each day, starting by beating Chang-Shen Chen and Ting-Yu Yen 8-4 in the quarterfinals. Next came an 8-6 victory over Hamza Khan and Ryan Wax to advance to the title match.

There, Heller and Connelly pulled out a hard-fought 8-7 (2) win over Chen En Tsai and Hung Ju Wu to take the doubles title.

The two Bobcats also entered in the singles bracket, with Connelly beating Yen in his opener 6-3, 6-4 before dropping a 7-5, 6-0 bout to Wax.

Heller fell in the quarterfinals 6-2, 6-2 to Luke McClelland then took one consolation bracket win over Tashawn Treadwell 6-4, 6-4 before dropping out to Evan Greer in a pair of 6-1 sets.
