INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Georgia College (11-7) is ranked eighth overall in the Southeast Region for the first round of the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Regional Rankings, released Wednesday.

The Bobcats are the sixth Peach Belt Conference (PBC) team ranked in the poll. Columbus State University is tops in the region. Flagler College follows in second. USC Aiken is fourth, Lander University takes fifth and the University of North Georgia is seventh on the list.

The NCAA poll is used to determine the five at-large bids for the NCAA Southeast Regional starting May 11. The winners of the three championship tournaments in the PBC, South Atlantic Conference and Conference Carolinas receive automatic bids. The remaining five spots are determined by the final version of this poll.

In the eighth spot, Georgia College could receive a bid to the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship. If the Bobcats can either hold this rank or move up in the standings, it would be the 13th straight time that the team would qualify for the NCAA Tournament.

GC Men's Tennis is back in action Friday, April 19 in the PBC Tournament at Francis Marion. The No. 6-seed Bobcats take on No. 3-seed Flagler in the first round at 9 a.m.
