MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College softball team (1-3) dropped two this afternoon to the Catawba College Indians (4-0), 5-3 in the first and 3-0 in the second.
The first game started off in the Bobcats' favor plating three runs in the first inning, aided by Haley Burnett's (Columbus, Ga.) three RBI, bases clearing double. That was the only offense GC could muster, gathering just four hits the rest of the game. The Indians had five different players with an RBI in the first game.
The second game was all Brittany Murray who pitched a shutout for the Indians, only allowing three hits. Dani Gallucci (Orlando, Fla.) and Lindsey Conway (Madison, Ga.) both went 1-for-2 in the effort. The Bobcats stranded seven runners on the bases and freshman Erica Bell (Fayetteville, Ga.) pitched three and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs on three hits.
Senior Burnett went 3-for-7 on the afternoon with three RBI. Gallucci finished 2-for-5 at the dish and threw three innings giving up three earned runs and punching out four.
The Bobcats travel to Clearwater, Fla. to play in the Eckerd College Spring Invitational starting Feb. 10 against the Nova Southeastern Sharks at 12:30 p.m.
