SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Georgia College softball team (13-5) had their six-game winning streak snapped in their final Mid-South Classic Tournament contest by Lenoir-Rhyne University (13-4), 3-2 Saturday night at Tiger River Field.  The game featured two Bobcat solo home-run blasts in the fourth inning that kept Georgia College within a run of tying the game in the final three innings.

The Bears got all of their offensive output early, scoring one run in the first and two runs in the third to go up 3-0. Sophomore Abi LeRoy (Dublin, Ga.) led-off for Georgia College in the fourth with a towering blast that made the score 3-1, and then just two batters later sophomore Taylor Campbell (Warner Robins, Ga.) homered as well to bring the Bobcats within a run.

Georgia College out-hit the Bears six to five, but Lenoir-Rhyne's hits had better fortune particularly with no Bobcat runners on the bags for each of the Georgia College homers. Senior Whitney Okvist (Kennesaw, Ga.) and freshman Carly Lewis (Seymour, Tenn.) rounded out the Bobcat hits with a pair each.

Lewis and sophomore Marisa Boyette (Marietta, Ga.) split time at the mound with the former recording the loss. Instead of playing back-to-back games, Georgia College had an unusually long break between games Saturday. After starting their first game in the morning, the Bobcats concluded their final game in the evening.

Georgia College returns to the Peeler Complex Tuesday, March 4 with a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. against Mount Olive College.
