MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College Softball (8-6) took a pair of games from Belmont Abbey College (6-4) on Homecoming Saturday, sweeping action 5-3 and 14-0 at the Peeler Complex. The sweep gives the Bobcats four straight wins at home.

Game one was a tight one, as tied up 1-1 in the second, Haley Howell (Rochelle) tagged a bases-loaded triple to give the Bobcats the lead for good.

Freshman Ariel Edenfield (Dublin) got her first career win in the ring, scattering 10 hits for three runs over the complete-game effort. Edenfield fanned two and walked a pair. First baseman MacKenzie Michels (Lilburn) was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The Bobcats ran away with game two, touching the plate eight times in the first inning, and not looking back. The big blow in the first was a three-run double by senior Caroline Snider (Tennille).

Lefty Rebecca Lawrence (Vidalia) threw the five run-shortened innings, striking out six and allowing just two hits in the shutout. The win evened Lawrence's record at 3-3.

Offensive stars were aplenty in the second game, third baseman Lindley Bruce (Kennesaw) tallying three singles, an RBI and a run. Leftfielder Darby Pinkard (Acworth) and Howell each had two hits, Howell scoring twice and both players driving in a run.

Shortstop Amber Coy (Warner Robins) had a three-run home run to left center in the fourth and finished with four RBIs total. The round-tripper was Coy's first of the season, and third of her career.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 4 p.m., traveling to Albany State University.
