DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The No. 5-seed Georgia College Softball team (34-17) will face No. 4-seed Flagler College (30-22) in the 2019 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Softball Tournament. The game will be the final of four quarterfinal matchups on day one with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 3 in Dahlonega at the University of North Georgia.

The Bobcats faced the Saints twice this season, dropping both games of a doubleheader on Thursday, April 18 in St. Augustine, Florida. The Saints won game one of the doubleheader 3-0 thanks to a shutout performance from Kyra Gipson. Gipson allowed only one hit and struck out five.

The Georgia College fared a bit better in game two, bringing in two runs in a 4-2 loss. Sophomores Sarah Couch (Madison) and Haley Howell (Rochelle) each tallied RBIs.

If the Bobcats beat the Saints, they will face the winner of No. 1-seed North Georgia and No. 8-seed UNC Pembroke in the semifinal round. The Bobcats split with UNG and swept UNCP in their meetings this year. The Bobcats were 6-8 against PBC Tournament teams in the regular season. The Bobcats last won the tournament in 2008.

National No. 4 and tournament host North Georgia (39-11) enters the tournament as the first seed. The Nighthawks have won the past five tournaments. The tournament is a single elimination bracket with eight competing teams.
