MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) recently announced its All-Southeast Region Softball team, with sophomore catcher Haley Howell (Rochele) earning a spot on the second team for Georgia College Softball (34-18).
Howell hit .355 this season with three home runs, 64 RBIs and 20 runs scored. She ranks second in the nation and tops in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) in RBIs. She's also first in the PBC in doubles (16) and ninth in average.
All-time, GC Softball has earned 25 All-Region honors from this system, 16 of which coming during the nine seasons with Jamie Grodecki as head coach. The most recent honoree was Holland Coursey to the first team in 2018. The only other catcher to bring in honors was 2016's Lacey Najafi.
Season has come to a close for Bobcat Softball, a year in which they went 34-18, reaching as high as No. 20 in the nation. The Bobcats enjoyed a 14-game win streak, putting Sarah Couch on the All-PBC Team and Amber Coy bringing in the Elite-15 Award. A league-best eight Bobcats were named to the PBC All-Academic Team.
The D2CCA All-America programs honor student-athletes in Division II athletic programs. The mission of the CCA is to encourage and promote Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The voting, nomination and calculations are all conducted by the school's sports information directors. The teams are voted on by the members of D2SIDA, NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association.
