Georgia College Softball Brings in Academic Honors from NFCA

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released its academic honors Wednesday, with Georgia College Softball bringing in plenty of hardware.

Georgia College's 2018-19 team GPA of 3.610 finished just outside the top-10 in Division II at a tie for No. 12 with Ferris State University. The Bobcats were tops in both the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) and the NCAA's Southeast Region.

Individual honors were dished out as well, with 12 Bobcats earning distinction as 2019 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes.

Bringing in individual honors were senior Kayla Price (2019), juniors Amber Coy (Warner Robins) and Danielle Rubin, sophomores Haley Howell (Rochelle), Rebecca Lawrence (Vidalia), Sarah Couch and Jessie Morris, freshmen Jessie Barre (Pooler), Carlie Behan (Cumming), Darby Pinkard (Acworth), Hannah Rogers (Marietta) and Rachel Wolverton.

In order to be placed on the list, student-athletes must have a 3.5 GPA or higher for the 2018-19 academic school year.

The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner Cup and the 2017 PBC Sportsmanship Institution of the Year, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level.
