MILLEDGEVILLE, GA. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) has announced that the Georgia College Women's Basketball team has won this year's PBC Team Sportsmanship award.
This award is given after each championship season to the team in that sport that most exemplifies the spirit of sportsmanship. These teams conduct themselves with a high degree of integrity, character and class. It is a great honor for Georgia College to receive this award.
Other teams who compete in that sport vote on the award. This is the second time the women's basketball team has won the Sportsmanship award, the first coming in 2013-14. The GC athletic department has won the award 15 times, which ties them for third most in the Peach Belt.
The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup and the 2017 PBC Sportsmanship Institution of the Year, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, Bobcat Athletics prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the teams' multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
