AUGUSTA, Ga. - Powered by a stonewalling defense all season, the Georgia College & State University soccer team (10-5-5) earned six slots on the 2009 All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) First and Second Teams, the conference office announced at its annual awards banquet today.

The six nominees were the most for any single school to own on the two teams this season.

Senior back Morgan Cobb (Cataula, Ga.) and junior goalkeeper Mary Rob Plunkett (Augusta, Ga.) both earned first team nods, while senior Daria Owen (Snellville, Ga.), juniors Ally Treat (Fayetteville, Ga.) and Jessica Binkowski (Cumming, Ga.) and sophomore Tawny Moffat (Peachtree City, Ga.) earned spots on the second team.

Cobb becomes just the second three-time All-PBC selection in GCSU soccer history. The senior is a leader on a defensive line that allowed just a 0.66 GAA. She was also named PBC Defensive Player of the Week once this season.

Plunkett is one of the top goalkeepers in the nation, listed fourth in save percentage (.916) and 12th in GAA (.465). This is her second all-conference nod, taking second-team honors a year ago.

Owen is a physical midfielder for the Bobcats, posting three goals and three assists on the year, including two game-winning strikes. Treat picks up her second all-conference second team selection, the first coming in 2008. She has a goal and is second on the team with four assists from her defensive midfield spot.

Binkowski provides speed and excellent man-marking efforts in the back, earning both PBC Defensive Player of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week (while filling in early this season) the first player in league history to complete that feat. Binkowski is also a two-time honoree after taking second team in 2008. Moffat joins Owen as the first time selections this year.

All-time, the ‘Cats have now been honored with 17 All-PBC selections.

The Bobcats return to action tonight at 7:30 p.m., facing the University of Montevallo in Geico PBC Tournament Semifinal action.
