MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Taking on their highest-ranked opponent of the young season, the Georgia College soccer team (2-1-1) battled No. 10 Barry University (4-0) in a 2-0 loss Sunday at Bobcat Field.
The loss closed out the 2015 Bobcat Shootout, where Barry posted wins over the Bobcats and Armstrong State University, Georgia College tied Florida Southern College and ASU beat FSC.
Bobcat goalkeeper Ashlee Graham (Decatur) was tested by the high-power offense of the Buccaneers, making six stops in eight tries in the loss. Shanice Robe put one in from the right side in the fifth minute of the game, then both teams were held scoreless until the 80th minute. Lavina Nkomo scored her fifth goal in as many matches to push the match further out of reach.
The Buccaneers were aggressive, finishing with 23 shots, 11 in the first and 12 in the second.
The Bobcats will look to return to the win column Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m., hosting Lee University in non-conference action.
