MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released the Academic All-District Teams for soccer Thursday, with Georgia College senior Ally Barys (Ladera Ranch, California) earning a slot on the District 3 Team in Division II.
Barys boasts a 4.0 GPA in exercise science, with a minor in business. The senior midfielder is the seventh Bobcat soccer student-athlete to earn the honor, but joins just Jessica Binkowski (2010) and Beth Coughlin (2008) as the only two-time honorees in program history. A three-time Peach Belt Conference (PBC) All-Academic Team member, Barys also earned a slot on the All-District squad in 2013.
Barys has been a force in her career for the Bobcats, scoring 15 goals, ranking fourth in school history. Her 36 career points is positioned fifth in the school recordbooks.
Barys is one of six student-athletes from PBC schools; making up over half of the 11-member team. All nominees are submitted and voted on by the school's sports information directors.
She now advances to the Academic All-America ballot, with results due for release Nov. 23.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m., a regular-season ending match at Flagler College.
