MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Soccer team (2-0) posted its second shutout in as many tries this season by taking down Florida Southern College (1-2) 2-0 Sunday at Bobcat Field.
Senior Ashlee Graham (Decatur) made three saves in the win, giving her two straight shutouts and a scoreless streak of 190:36.
Classmate Sofia Lekas (Lizella) got the scoring started in the eighth minute, when senior Amanda Bartholomew (Peachtree City) split the defense with a pass through the left side that caught Lekas in stride. She finished it off for the senior's first goal of the season and the seventh in her career. The 1-0 lead would hold for the rest of the half.
In the second frame, the Bobcats doubled the score just under seven minutes in. This time it was a deep pass from senior Anya Mancinelli (Atlanta) at the midfield line that found freshman Brooke Adams (Kennesaw) at the top of the box. Adams moved left, slipped the defense to the right and found the upper right corner of the net for her first career goal.
The win evens out the all-time series with the Mocs at 2-2-1.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Sept. 7 at 8 p.m., playing host to the University of Montevallo.
