GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) released its Women's Soccer All-Southeast Region Team Tuesday, with Georgia College senior defender Unnbjorg Omarsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) earning a spot on the second team.
A two-time All-Peach Belt Conference selection, Omarsdottir was a senior leader for a defense that allowed just a 0.86 GAA and posted 12 shutouts this season. She also got heavily involved in the scoring, posting four goals and three assists. The team was 3-1-1 in matches where she tallied points.
Omarsdottir is the fifth D2CCA All-Region selection in school history; the honor formerly sponsored by Daktronics. Defender Morgan Cobb was a two-time selection in 2007 and 2009, with Mary Rob Plunkett joining her in 2009. Amanda Bartholomew (Peachtree City, Georgia) won the honor just a season ago.
The Bobcats wrapped up another great season in 2018, posting back-to-back double-digit win seasons for the second time in program history. Georgia College also had a Cinderella postseason run, getting to the championship match and falling in penalty kicks to national No. 3 Columbus State University. Omarsdottir, Bartholomew and Ashlee Graham (Decatur, Georgia) each earned All-PBC status, with Graham taking the PBC Elite-15 Award as well.
