MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – For the fifth time this season, the Georgia College Volleyball team (8-3, 3-2 PBC) picked up a win via sweep, this time downing UNC Pembroke (1-15, 0-6 PBC) in straight sets Friday night at the Centennial Center.
The Bobcats took the first two sets by identical 25-13 scores, finishing off the bout with a 25-15 tally. Georgia College never trailed in the match.
"Tonight was a total team effort," said head coach Gretchen Krumdieck. "Everyone contributed and did their job. We are looking forward to taking this momentum into tomorrow's match."
Sophomore Taylor Svehla (Cumming) led the attack with 11 kills, adding a .346 hitting percentage. She added three aces and a block for 14.5 total points. Senior Ashley Savransky (Roswell) added 10 kills of her own, hitting a whopping .421 clip.
Sophomore Kayla Brockway (Jacksonville, Florida) ran the offense well, tallying 23 assists, adding a trio of kills and a block. Junior Madison Speyerer (Winter Haven, Florida) took over for the majority of the final set, putting up 13 assists, more than doubling her season total.
Every Bobcat saw floor time tonight, each putting positive numbers up in the team effort. Georgia College has now won three straight from UNCP.
The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, Oct. 1 at 2 p.m., hosting Francis Marion University (9-6, 3-3 PBC). The Patriots most recently lost at Augusta University tonight in five sets.
