MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Sophomore Kayla Brockway (Jacksonville, Florida) of the Georgia College Volleyball team (15-8, 6-5 PBC) has been named Bobcat Athlete of the Week for her efforts during the week ending Oct. 30.
The Bobcat sophomore recorded 43 assists in the five-set thriller against Flagler College early in the week. She got her first of four double-doubles for the week with 11 digs against the Saints. At home against Augusta University, Brockway posted her best numbers, taking 49 assists away from the four-setter for a huge 12.25 assists per set. She also saved 20 digs in the 3-1 Bobcat victory. She continued that success with 40 assists and a 10.00 average against Francis Marion University Friday. She added 11 digs against the Patriots and then 10 more against UNC Pembroke Saturday. In that three-set shut-out, Brockway grabbed 28 assists with 9.33 assists per set.
Brockway also set the single-season school record for aces this week, and now has 39 on the year.
The Bobcats are back in action tonight, hosting Columbus State University at 7 p.m.
