GC Volleyball’s Ray Receives PBC Elite-15 Award for Highest GPA

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College Volleyball (17-13) is honored to have this year's Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Elite 15 award-winner on the squad for the first time in program history.

Junior Katie Ray (Cumming) won the Elite-15 Award presented by EAB for her exemplary performance in the classroom.
The Elite-15 Award is one the highest academic achievement award presented at each PBC Championship to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA of all student-athletes participating in the tournament.
Ray, a defensive specialist for the Bobcats, holds a 3.92 GPA as a nursing major with a minor in psychology. Ray was also named a member of the 2016 PBC All-Academic Team, joining nine teammates combing for the most recipients in program history.
Georgia College goes into the PBC Championship Tournament as the No. 7-seed of the eight tournament teams. The Bobcats will play No. 2-seed USC Aiken Friday for the last match of the quarterfinal round, and this year the Bobcats get the home court advantage. Complete quarterfinal action will start at 10 a.m. at Georgia College's Centennial Center.
