Bobcat Volleyball Controls UNC Pembroke in Sweep

PEACH BELT STANDINGS

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Volleyball team (13-9, 5-4 PBC) won its fourth in the last five Friday night, sweeping UNC Pembroke (9-18, 0-9 PBC) at the Centennial Center.

The Bobcats took the sets 25-18, 25-12 and 25-19 and have now won eight straight against the Braves.

Sophomore Libby Bochniak (Marietta) led the attack with 13 kills, as the Bobcats spread out the kills over eight different players. She added 12 digs for a double-double, her third straight.

Senior Kayla Brockway (Jacksonville, Florida) picked up 35 assists in the match and a pair of service aces. Freshman Lauren Talele (Woodstock) led the defense with 13 digs, joining Bochniak in double-digits.

The Bobcats hit .267 as a team, the best number put up by the squad against a Peach Belt Conference (PBC) opponent this season and the best number since hitting .287 against Albany State University Sept. 18.

The win puts the Bobcats at 5-4 in PBC play, tied for third in the league standings. The Bobcats have three conference matchups remaining.

GC Volleyball is back in action tomorrow, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m., hosting Francis Marion University for the Bobcats' Senior Day matchup.

Svehla led the way again with 13 more kills moving the senior to 991 in her career, as she seeks to become the first member of the 1,000-kill club at Georgia College. Sophomore Libby Bochniak (Marietta, Georgia) got in on the action in the second match, nabbing her first double-double of the year with 11 kills and 13 digs. Joining her in double-digit digs was Brockway with 14 and Moellering with a team-best 16.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Sept. 7 at 2 p.m. taking on Lincoln Memorial University in a tournament at Tusculum College.
